Milacron Injection Molding & Extrusion is an industrial technology brand serving the global plastics processing industry. It announced the addition of new products to its all-electric products through the FANUC Roboshot ALPHA-SiB series. Milacron can provide this product to North American molders through Milacron.

Milacron now offers FANUC Roboshot ALPHA-SiB, which is based on the best-selling FANUC Roboshot ALPHA-SiA series and is a continuation of the partnership between Milacron and FANUC in the Americas for more than 35 years.

ALPHA-SiB series, 55, 110, 140, 165 and 240 ton models are now available with various injection capabilities. Expanding the flexibility of the ROBOSHOT series, it is now available in a variety of sizes with smaller injection volume models for high-precision molding applications. Milacron will deliver its first ALPHA S140iB to a custom molder in the Midwest in the second quarter of 2021.

Milacron and FANUC have collaborated to adjust Roboshot Alpha to meet the requirements of various applications for clamping and injection units. Special functions have been developed specifically for medical, LSR, optical, electrical connectors and packaging applications. As an exciting example of these special features, Milacron’s technical experts used 3D modeling to develop a new high-flow water system to prevent operation without water flow.

"In the past 2 years, these systems have proven to be invaluable to the medical and packaging industries." said Kent Royer, ROBOSHOT technical product manager. "Since NPE 2018, we have also seen a high demand for Mold-Masters hot runner controller integration. Using Modbus and SPI communication, we have developed some functions that can reduce human errors in operation and allow the use of ADD/OR The logical ROBOSHOT custom I/O function creates a custom shutdown sequence."

The ALPHA-SiB series will include higher resolution/performance PANEL iH control and new electrical standards. In addition, Milacron announced that the previous options are now the standard configuration of the iB series, adding an already long list of standard features, making it one of the most flexible platforms. This includes increased mold stack height, 3-level air ejection, expanded I/O for automation/sequencing, precision clamping force control for consistent exhaust and mold wear reduction, and customization with safety control and tracking 200 operator IDs for locking functions.

The ALPHA-SiB series provides numerous upgrades for companies seeking printing presses with maximum flexibility, lower overall life cycle costs, higher productivity/precision, and overall business success.
