Delta Tecnic is a Barcelona-based company that specializes in the production and distribution of color masterbatches and raw materials for plastics, cables, inks, paints and cosmetics. It promotes the production of masterbatches to improve the dilution process in the PVC and cable industries. Masterbatch is a kind of smaller particle size masterbatch, suitable for PVC and polyolefin, can provide better control and best color uniformity. In fact, the reduced size of Delta Tecnic masterbatches ensures faster dilution because they melt and bind the compound earlier.
During the extrusion of the masterbatch, the pigment, the raw material, is dispersed. Initially, the pigment has agglomerates in its structure, during which the agglomerates are separated into crystalline units, which are then encapsulated in a polymer matrix. After a single unit is encapsulated, it forms pellets and prevents re-agglomeration, avoiding impurities or sparks in the final product. Delta Tecnic ensures the best dispersion and the best dilution during the extrusion process, and has the greatest color strength.
The company launched a series of masterbatch solutions developed for all types of applications in the cable industry and PVC industry from its Delta Color division. As a novelty, the following stand out:
Pellets. PVC-based masterbatch, suitable for all types of applications in the PVC and cable industries, designed to improve the dilution in the compound.
Small pellets. Color masterbatches suitable for all types of applications that require rapid dilution and good uniformity in cable manufacturing and the PVC industry. Its particle size is three times smaller than standard particles, ensuring uniform color and no dust pollution.
Microbeads. PE and EVA base masterbatch used in the cable industry, it can improve the color dilution that traditional masterbatch cannot achieve good color uniformity. Compared with traditional particles, its simplified design improves the dosage. This masterbatch formulation helps eliminate defects or uneven color areas in cable manufacturing.
Dilution is the process of incorporating a masterbatch into a compound to transform the plastic. There are many factors that affect the quality of the dilution, including the formulation and particle size of the masterbatch. Delta Tecnic's goal is to provide a masterbatch to ensure the fastest dilution possible.
In order to obtain better process results, proper metering must also be carried out. Thanks to our excellent choice of particle size regularity, our masterbatch is dosed in the best way and will not cause problems when entering the extrusion process. In many cases, the mixing unit in the metering system can help improve the uniform distribution of small particles relative to large particles. When all these mixtures are discharged into the extruder, the homogenization of the final color of the manufactured parts is optimized.
The trend of shorter and faster extruders, resulting in a smaller wall thickness of the cable insulation, makes it more difficult to achieve perfect color uniformity. Therefore, it is easier to improve the results in terms of color uniformity due to the use of a new reduced-size particle masterbatch.
